Genius RF Microneedling.
Precision Beneath The SurfacE
Genius RF Microneedling is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines precision microneedling with radiofrequency energy to improve acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity and overall skin quality.
By delivering controlled thermal energy directly into the dermis, Genius stimulates the body's natural healing response, encouraging collagen and elastin remodelling while improving the appearance of skin texture and firmness.
Unlike traditional microneedling, Genius incorporates real-time tissue monitoring and intelligent energy delivery, allowing treatment to be adjusted as energy is delivered. This provides a highly customizable approach to skin rejuvenation, with gradual improvements that develop over the following months.

How It Works.
The Technology Behind the Treatment
Genius combines two complementary technologies: microneedling and radiofrequency.
Ultra-fine, insulated needles penetrate the skin at carefully selected depths, creating controlled micro-injuries while delivering radiofrequency energy directly into the dermis.
The resulting thermal stimulation creates microscopic zones of coagulation, initiating a natural wound-healing response that encourages collagen and elastin remodelling.
As the skin repairs itself, these structural changes can gradually improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and skin firmness.
What distinguishes Genius is its Intelligent Energy Delivery technology. The system measures tissue impedance and adjusts energy delivery in real time, helping practitioners achieve more consistent thermal treatment despite variations in tissue characteristics.
Needle depth and energy settings can also be customized according to the treatment area, skin thickness and concern being addressed.
Why We Love It.
The Genius Advantage
Genius allows us to approach skin rejuvenation with a high degree of precision, particularly when addressing concerns that extend beneath the skin's surface.
Its combination of controlled microneedling and radiofrequency energy makes it particularly valuable for improving acne scarring, textural irregularities and early changes in skin firmness.
The ability to adjust needle depth and energy delivery allows us to tailor treatment to different anatomical areas and individual skin concerns, rather than relying on a single treatment intensity.
We also appreciate its real-time tissue feedback, which helps guide energy delivery throughout the procedure.
For patients seeking progressive improvements in skin texture and quality, Genius offers a treatment approach focused on remodelling the skin's underlying structure rather than simply exfoliating its surface.
Where It Fits.
Genius RF Microneedling is particularly suited to patients whose concerns involve acne scarring, uneven texture, fine lines and mild skin laxity.
Unlike traditional microneedling, which creates controlled mechanical micro-injuries, Genius also delivers radiofrequency energy into the dermis to stimulate a thermal remodelling response.
It differs from XERF, which delivers radiofrequency energy non-invasively without needles. Genius allows energy to be delivered at selected depths through microneedles, making it a different approach to collagen remodelling and textural correction.
For more pronounced surface irregularities, deeper wrinkles or extensive photodamage, fractional CO₂ resurfacing may be considered.
Genius can also be combined with complementary technologies when different layers of the skin require attention.
Total Skin Solution.
Our Total Skin Solution combines Genius RF Microneedling with LaseMD Ultra to address multiple aspects of skin aging and overall skin quality.
Genius delivers radiofrequency energy into the dermis to support collagen remodelling, improve texture and address skin firmness. LaseMD Ultra complements this approach by targeting superficial pigmentation, sun damage and uneven tone through non-ablative fractional resurfacing.
Together, these technologies allow us to address concerns at different depths within a coordinated treatment plan.
The treatments may be performed during the same appointment when appropriate, with treatment settings, sequencing and recovery tailored to your skin.
Your Genius Treatment.
Two technologies. One comprehensive ApproacH
Your appointment begins with an assessment of your skin, treatment goals and medical history. Your nurse will determine the appropriate treatment areas, needle depths and energy settings based on your individual needs.
Your skin will be cleansed and a topical anaesthetic applied before treatment to improve comfort.
Once the skin has been prepared, the Genius handpiece is applied systematically across the treatment area. Ultra-fine needles enter the skin at selected depths while radiofrequency energy is delivered into the underlying tissue.
Most patients describe the sensation as a combination of pressure, warmth and brief prickling. Sensitivity varies depending on the area being treated and the intensity of treatment.
The procedure itself typically takes approximately 20–45 minutes, depending on the treatment area. At The Infirmary, we allow approximately 60 minutes for topical numbing, so your full appointment will be longer.
Following treatment, your skin may appear red or swollen and feel warm or tight. Your nurse will review your individualized aftercare instructions and expected recovery before you leave.

THE THINGS YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO KNOW.
Below are a few common details about our genius treatments. Have a specific question? Reach out to us anytime and we'll be happy to help.
Is There Downtime?
Most patients experience redness, warmth and mild swelling for approximately 24–48 hours. Temporary pinpoint marks, dryness, rough texture or light flaking may also occur.
Some patients experience visible redness or swelling for several days, and full recovery may take up to a week or occasionally longer.
Your nurse will discuss your anticipated recovery period during consultation so you can plan accordingly.
Does It Hurt?
Genius involves microneedling and the delivery of thermal energy, so some discomfort should be expected.
At The Infirmary, topical anaesthetic is applied for approximately 60 minutes before treatment to improve comfort.
Most patients describe the sensation as pressure, warmth or brief prickling. Certain areas may be more sensitive, and treatment settings can be adjusted when appropriate.
When Will I See Results?
Some patients notice early improvements in skin texture and appearance after the initial healing period.
However, the primary benefits of Genius develop progressively as collagen and elastin remodelling occurs.
Improvements in skin firmness, fine lines and acne scarring may become more noticeable over the following weeks and months, with continued changes possible for approximately six months after treatment.
Results vary according to the concern being treated, treatment intensity and individual response.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
At The Infirmary, we typically recommend a series of three treatments spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart.
The number of treatments required depends on your skin, the concern being addressed and the degree of improvement desired.
More established acne scarring or significant textural irregularities may require additional treatments, and some patients benefit from periodic maintenance to support their results.
Your treatment plan will be established during consultation and adjusted according to your response.
What Should I Avoid Afterwards?
Following Genius, your skin requires time to recover from the controlled mechanical and thermal treatment.
Avoid excessive heat, strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs and activities that cause significant sweating during the initial recovery period.
Retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and other potentially irritating skincare should be temporarily discontinued until your skin has recovered and your nurse advises you to resume them.
Avoid picking, scratching or exfoliating any areas of dryness or pinpoint crusting.
Use gentle skincare, follow your recommended moisturizing protocol and protect the treated area from direct sun exposure. Resume sunscreen according to your individualized aftercare instructions.
Contact the clinic if you experience increasing pain, spreading redness, significant swelling or other unexpected changes during recovery.
Important Considerations
Genius RF Microneedling combines needle penetration with radiofrequency energy to create controlled thermal injury within the skin.
Treatment may not be appropriate for patients with active skin infections, open wounds, certain implanted electronic devices, impaired wound healing or other medical conditions identified during assessment.
Temporary redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, tenderness, dryness and rough texture are common following treatment. Less commonly, complications may include infection, burns, blistering, prolonged inflammation, changes in pigmentation, scarring or unintended changes in underlying tissue.
Patients with a history of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or abnormal scarring require careful assessment and individualized treatment settings.
Appropriate skin preparation, sterile technique and adherence to aftercare instructions are essential. Your nurse will review the anticipated recovery and determine whether Genius RF Microneedling is suitable for your skin and treatment goals.
