Unwanted Hair.
Smoothness Defined on Your Terms
Whether you're tired of shaving, dealing with recurrent ingrown hairs, or simply prefer having less hair in a particular area, laser hair reduction offers a longer-term approach to reducing unwanted hair growth.
No judgment about where you grow it. No judgment about where you don't want it.
HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL ACTUALLY WORK?
Laser hair removal works by targeting melanin, the pigment within the hair.
Laser energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair and converted to heat, damaging structures involved in hair growth while minimizing injury to the surrounding skin.
Over a series of treatments, this reduces the amount of hair that grows back and can leave remaining hair finer and less noticeable.
But there's a reason we said series.
WHY CLARITY II?
Precision Technology, Personal Calibration
At The Infirmary, laser hair reduction is performed using Clarity II, a dual-wavelength laser platform.
It combines 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd wavelengths, giving our clinicians flexibility to select treatment parameters based on factors including skin tone, hair characteristics and treatment area.
It also incorporates cooling technology to help protect the skin and improve comfort during treatment.
The settings aren't copied from the person who came before you.
They're selected for your skin and your hair.
WHAT CAN WE TREAT?
Smoothness Without Boundaries
Laser hair reduction can be performed on many areas of the face and body, including:
- Upper Lip
- Under Arms
- Arms
- Bikini & Brazilian
- Legs
- Back
- Chest
- Abdomen
- Face & Chin
- Fingers & Toes
During your consultation, we'll assess the treatment area and determine whether your hair and skin characteristics make you a good candidate.
HAIR GROWS ON ITS OWN SCHEDULE.
Catching Hair at the Right Moment
Hair doesn't all grow at the same time.
Each follicle moves independently through different phases of the hair-growth cycle:
ANAGEN - ACTIVE GROWTH
The hair is actively growing and remains connected to the structures we want to target. This is the phase in which laser treatment is most effective.
CATAGEN - TRANSITION
Growth slows and the follicle begins transitioning away from active growth.
TELOGEN - RESTING
The follicle rests before the hair eventually sheds and a new growth cycle begins.
At any given appointment, only a portion of the hair in an area is in the ideal stage for treatment.
That's why one appointment can't catch everything.
We treat. We wait. More follicles enter active growth. We treat again.
WHAT ABOUT BLONDE, GREY, WHITE OR RED HAIR?
Honest Science Over Empty Promises
Laser needs pigment in the hair to create its target.
Hair with very little or no melanin, particularly white and grey hair, and many very light blonde or red hairs may respond poorly or not at all to laser hair removal.
No amount of turning up the laser changes the fact that we need an appropriate target.
We'll assess your hair before recommending a treatment series rather than selling you treatments unlikely to work.
WHY DO I STILL HAVE SOME HAIR?
What Lasting Smoothness Actually Looks Like
Because the goal is long-term hair reduction, not a promise that you will never see another hair again.
After completing an initial series, many patients experience a substantial reduction in hair growth. Remaining hair may also become finer or lighter.
Hormonal changes and other factors can influence future growth, and occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended.
