Hollywood Spectra.

The Pursuit of Skin Clarity

Hollywood Spectra is an advanced Q-switched Nd:YAG laser designed to address unwanted pigmentation, uneven skin tone and overall skin quality. Its versatile technology allows us to customize treatment for a range of pigment concerns, from sun damage and brown spots to carefully selected cases of melasma.

Using ultra-short pulses of laser energy, Hollywood Spectra targets pigment within the skin, helping to break it into smaller particles that can be gradually cleared through the body's natural processes.

Beyond pigmentation, Hollywood Spectra also offers the Hollywood Carbon Peel, a gentle laser-assisted exfoliation treatment designed to refine skin texture, improve the appearance of pores and restore radiance with minimal downtime.

How It Works.

The Technology Behind the Treatment

Hollywood Spectra uses two wavelengths of Nd:YAG laser energy (1064 nm and 532 nm) to address different pigment concerns.

Its Q-switched technology delivers extremely short pulses of energy that create a photoacoustic effect, disrupting targeted pigment into smaller particles that the body can gradually clear.

The 1064 nm wavelength can reach deeper within the skin and is used in carefully selected pigment-management protocols, including melasma. The 532 nm wavelength is more strongly absorbed by superficial pigment and may be used for appropriate epidermal pigmented lesions.

Hollywood Spectra also features a specialized Spectra Mode that enables its signature carbon peel treatment.

By adjusting the wavelength, energy delivery and treatment technique, we can tailor the procedure to the pigmentation being addressed, your skin characteristics and your treatment goals.

Why We Love It.

A Versatile Approach to Skin Clarity

Hollywood Spectra allows us to approach pigmentation with precision while offering a range of treatments within a single technology.

Its versatility makes it valuable for patients looking to address unwanted pigmentation, improve uneven tone or maintain a brighter complexion without the recovery associated with more intensive resurfacing.

We particularly appreciate the ability to distinguish between pigment-focused treatments and the Hollywood Carbon Peel, allowing us to select the appropriate protocol rather than approaching every concern in the same way.

Where It Fits.

Is Hollywood Spectra Right for You?

Hollywood Spectra is particularly valuable when pigmentation, uneven tone or superficial skin rejuvenation are the primary treatment goals.

Unlike LaseMD Ultra, which creates microscopic thermal treatment zones to stimulate fractional skin renewal, Hollywood Spectra uses Q-switched laser energy to target pigment through a predominantly photoacoustic mechanism.

For selected patients with melasma, conservative Spectra protocols may be considered when topical treatment and photoprotection have not provided adequate improvement. Laser treatment is not routinely the first step, and recurrence remains possible.

The Hollywood Carbon Peel offers a different application of the technology, focusing on gentle exfoliation, visible radiance and texture with relatively little recovery.

Patients seeking correction of deeper wrinkles, significant acne scarring or skin laxity may benefit from alternative technologies such as eCO₂, Genius RF Microneedling or XERF.

Our treatment recommendations are guided by the nature of your concerns, skin characteristics and the degree of correction required.

Your Hollywood Spectra Treatment.

Your appointment begins with an assessment of your skin, pigmentation history and treatment goals. Your nurse will determine whether a pigment-focused protocol or Hollywood Carbon Peel is appropriate.

For pigmentation treatments, the skin is cleansed and the laser handpiece is passed systematically over the selected areas using individualized treatment settings.

Most patients describe the sensation as brief, warm snaps against the skin. Cooling may be used to improve comfort.

For the Hollywood Carbon Peel, a specialized carbon lotion is first applied to the skin. Once prepared, the laser is used to interact with and remove the carbon, providing gentle exfoliation and skin rejuvenation.

The laser procedure generally takes approximately 20–30 minutes, although your full appointment may be longer depending on the treatment area and preparation required.

Following treatment, your nurse will review the expected skin response and provide individualized aftercare instructions.

The Things You Actually Want To Know.

Below are a few common details about our Hollywood Spectra treatment. Have a specific question? Reach out to us anytime and we'll be happy to help.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime depends on the treatment performed.

The Hollywood Carbon Peel typically involves minimal recovery. You may experience mild redness, warmth or sensitivity for several hours, although most patients can resume normal daily activities shortly afterwards.

Conservative pigment-focused treatments may also involve limited downtime, but targeted pigmented lesions can temporarily darken, develop superficial crusting or require several days to heal.

More noticeable redness, swelling or pigmentation changes are possible depending on treatment intensity and individual response.

Your nurse will discuss the expected recovery period for your specific protocol.

Does It Hurt?

Hollywood Spectra is generally well tolerated, although the sensation varies depending on the treatment.

Pigment-focused treatments may feel like brief snaps or prickling sensations against the skin.

The Hollywood Carbon Peel is typically described as a warm, tingling sensation with mild snapping as the laser interacts with the carbon.

Topical anaesthetic is not routinely required for lighter treatments, but comfort measures will be tailored to the procedure.

When Will I See Results?

Results depend on the concern being treated.

Following a Hollywood Carbon Peel, patients may notice a smoother, brighter-looking complexion once any initial redness has settled.

For targeted pigmentation, treated spots may temporarily darken before gradually fading as the skin heals. Improvement may become noticeable over the following days and weeks.

Melasma requires a more gradual approach. Improvement, when achieved, typically develops over a series of treatments and must be supported by ongoing skincare and photoprotection.

Results vary, and pigmentation may recur.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments depends on the type of pigmentation, its severity and your individual response.

Some superficial pigmented lesions may improve after one or a few sessions, while more extensive pigmentation may require a planned series.

Melasma management may involve multiple carefully spaced sessions when laser treatment is appropriate, alongside topical therapy and ongoing maintenance.

The Hollywood Carbon Peel can be performed as an occasional skin refresh or as part of a series for ongoing skin maintenance.

Your nurse will recommend a treatment schedule following consultation rather than applying a standard protocol to every patient.

What Should I Avoid Afterwards?

Following Hollywood Spectra, protect your skin from direct sun exposure and avoid tanning.

Temporarily discontinue retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and other potentially irritating skincare until your skin has recovered and your nurse advises you to resume them.

Avoid excessive heat and activities that aggravate redness or sensitivity during the initial recovery period.

If treated pigmentation darkens or develops superficial crusting, do not pick, scratch or exfoliate the area.

Gentle skincare and daily broad-spectrum sun protection are essential. Patients managing melasma may also benefit from tinted sunscreen containing iron oxides to help protect against visible light.

Your nurse will provide individualized aftercare instructions based on your treatment protocol and skin response.

Important Considerations

Hollywood Spectra treatments must be selected according to the type and cause of pigmentation or the specific skin concern being addressed.

Active infections, recent tanning, certain medications and a history of abnormal pigmentation may affect treatment suitability.

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or changes in pigmentation may occur. Less commonly, laser treatment can cause burns, blistering, crusting, scarring or persistent pigment changes.

Melasma requires particular caution. Laser treatment may improve its appearance in selected patients, but heat and inflammation can also trigger rebound pigmentation or worsening. Melasma is a chronic, recurrent condition, and ongoing management, including appropriate skincare and sun protection, is essential.

The Hollywood Carbon Peel and pigment-focused laser protocols have different treatment objectives and recovery considerations. Your nurse will review the risks and expected response associated with the protocol selected.
