CO2 laser Resurfacing.
A Deeper Approach to Skin Renewal
The Lutronic eCO₂ is an advanced fractional ablative carbon dioxide laser designed to address more established signs of skin aging, acne scarring, sun damage and uneven texture.
Using precise laser energy, eCO₂ creates microscopic treatment zones within the skin, removing damaged tissue while stimulating the body's natural healing response and collagen remodelling. Surrounding areas of untreated skin support recovery, allowing for a more controlled approach than traditional full-field resurfacing.
From lighter resurfacing to more intensive correction, treatment can be customized according to your skin, concerns and desired results.
The result is progressively smoother, firmer-looking skin with improvements in texture, fine lines and overall skin quality.

How It Works.
The eCO₂ Plus uses a 10,600 nm carbon dioxide laser to deliver controlled energy into the skin, targeting water within the tissue to create microscopic columns of ablation and thermal stimulation.
This process works in two complementary ways:
- Skin resurfacing: Removes microscopic areas of damaged tissue, encouraging new surface skin and improving visible irregularities.
- Collagen remodelling: Stimulates the skin’s natural healing response, supporting collagen production and remodelling over the following months.
The laser delivers energy in a fractional pattern, leaving small areas of untreated skin between treatment columns to support healing. Its Controlled Chaos Technology (CCT™) distributes pulses in a randomized pattern to help limit excessive heat buildup in surrounding tissue.
Treatment settings can be adjusted to address your concerns and accommodate your anticipated recovery period.
Why We Love It.
Deeper resurfacing - More targeted results
eCO₂ Plus allows us to address skin concerns that extend beyond surface pigmentation or mild textural changes.
Its combination of ablative resurfacing and thermal stimulation makes it particularly valuable for improving deeper wrinkles, acne scarring and more established photodamage.
What makes this technology especially versatile is its ability to deliver different levels of correction. Rather than using the same settings for every patient, we can adjust treatment intensity based on the area, concern and degree of resurfacing required.
Where It Fits.
Advanced resurfacing for deeper, more visible skin concerns.
eCO₂ is our more intensive resurfacing option for patients seeking correction of deeper wrinkles, acne scarring, pronounced textural irregularities and more advanced signs of photoaging.
Unlike non-ablative technologies such as LaseMD Ultra, eCO₂ removes microscopic columns of skin while delivering thermal energy into the dermis. This allows for a different level of tissue remodelling, but also requires a greater commitment to recovery.
For patients with milder concerns, limited downtime or skin characteristics that make ablative resurfacing less appropriate, we may recommend Tixel, LaseMD Ultra or another treatment instead.
eCO₂ can be delivered conservatively or more intensively depending on the degree of correction required. It can also be sequenced with clinical skincare and complementary technologies when that combination serves the overall plan.
The decision depends on what we're treating, your pigmentation and healing history, and the amount of recovery that is appropriate for you.
The Precision Peel: Our eCO₂ Precision Peel offers a lighter approach to fractional laser resurfacing, using customized treatment settings to improve uneven texture, fine lines and overall skin quality. By delivering controlled laser energy at a more conservative intensity, it encourages skin renewal and collagen remodelling with generally less downtime than more aggressive CO₂ treatments. Ideal for appropriately selected patients seeking a more gradual approach to skin rejuvenation.
Your Laser Treatment.
Personalized preparation, precise treatment, and guided recovery.
Your eCO₂ treatment begins well before the day of your appointment.
During your consultation, we'll assess your skin, discuss your concerns and review your medical history, current skincare, previous treatments and healing characteristics.
Depending on your skin and the intensity of resurfacing planned, you may require several weeks of preparatory skincare. Prescription medications may also be recommended when clinically indicated.
On treatment day, your skin will be cleansed and prepared, and an individualized comfort plan will be implemented.
Depending on the treatment intensity, comfort measures may include topical anaesthetic, cooling and other appropriate medications.
The laser handpiece is then passed systematically across the treatment area, delivering precise fractional energy according to your individualized treatment plan.
Treatment duration varies depending on the area and intensity. Your full appointment will also include preparation, anaesthesia and post-treatment care.
Following the procedure, your skin will feel warm and may appear significantly red and swollen. Your nurse will review your recovery instructions, skincare protocol and follow-up plan before you leave.

The Things You Actually Want To Know.
Below are a few common details about our eco2 laser resurfacing treatments. Have a specific question? Reach out to us anytime and we'll be happy to help.
Is there any downtime?
Yes. eCO₂ is an ablative resurfacing treatment, and recovery is an important part of the process.
Downtime varies significantly depending on treatment intensity, the area treated and your individual healing response.
Lighter resurfacing may involve approximately 3–5 days of visible recovery, while more intensive treatments commonly require 7–14 days or longer before the skin has sufficiently healed.
During recovery, you can expect redness, swelling, warmth, oozing, crusting and peeling. Swelling is often most noticeable during the first few days.
Residual pinkness or redness may persist for several weeks or longer, particularly following deeper resurfacing.
We'll discuss your expected recovery period during your consultation so you can plan appropriately.
Does It Hurt?
Discomfort depends on the intensity of treatment and the area being addressed.
Most patients describe sensations of heat, burning or prickling during treatment. More intensive resurfacing generally requires a more comprehensive comfort plan.
We offer several options to support patient comfort, including topical anaesthetic, cooling and additional medications when appropriate.
Following treatment, the skin may feel hot, tight or uncomfortable, similar to a significant sunburn. These sensations generally improve as the initial inflammatory response settles.
When Will I See Results?
Initial improvements in skin texture may become visible once the surface has healed and the early redness begins to resolve.
However, the full benefits of eCO₂ develop progressively.
As collagen remodelling continues, improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, scarring and overall skin quality may become more apparent over approximately 3 - 6 months.
Results depend on the concern being treated, treatment intensity and your individual healing response. Complete elimination of wrinkles or scars cannot be guaranteed.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments depends on your skin, the concern being addressed and the intensity of resurfacing selected.
Some patients may achieve their desired improvement following a single, more intensive treatment.
Others, particularly those addressing more established acne scarring or deeper textural irregularities, may benefit from additional sessions.
Patients who prefer a shorter recovery period may also choose a series of lighter resurfacing treatments rather than a single higher-intensity procedure.
Your treatment plan will be established during consultation and adjusted according to your response.
What Should I Avoid Afterwards?
Following eCO₂ resurfacing, protecting the healing skin is essential.
Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, picking or removing crusts, exfoliating products and potentially irritating skincare until your skin has recovered.
Strenuous exercise, excessive heat, swimming and activities that may increase irritation or infection risk should also be avoided during the initial healing period, according to your individualized instructions.
Retinoids, exfoliating acids and other active skincare should only be resumed once your nurse has confirmed that your skin is ready.
Follow your prescribed cleansing and wound-care routine carefully, including any recommended medications and recovery products.
Sun protection is particularly important after resurfacing. Your nurse will advise when sunscreen can be introduced and how to protect your skin while it is still healing.
Contact the clinic promptly if you experience increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, fever or other unexpected changes during recovery.
Important Considerations
Fractional CO₂ resurfacing is an ablative laser procedure that creates controlled injury to the skin. It requires careful patient selection, appropriate preparation and a commitment to post-treatment care.
Active infections, recent tanning, impaired wound healing, certain medications and a history of abnormal scarring may affect treatment suitability. Patients with a history of cold sores may require preventative antiviral medication when clinically indicated.
Redness, swelling, oozing, crusting and peeling are expected during recovery. Redness may persist for weeks or longer, particularly following more intensive treatments.
Potential complications include infection, delayed healing, prolonged redness, acne or milia, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation and scarring.
Patients with darker skin tones or a history of pigmentary changes require particular consideration because the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation may be increased.
Strict adherence to wound care instructions and sun protection is essential. Your provider will discuss the anticipated recovery and risks before treatment.
