Laser Hair Removal.
For A Little Less Maintenance
Laser hair removal offers long-term reduction of unwanted hair using targeted laser energy.
At The Infirmary, we use Clarity II, a dual-wavelength laser platform combining 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd:YAG technology. Having two wavelengths allows us to select treatment parameters according to factors such as your skin type, hair characteristics and treatment area.
Because hair grows in cycles, laser hair removal isn't a one-and-done treatment. A series of appropriately timed treatments is required to target hairs as they enter the active growth phase.
The result? Less time shaving, waxing and thinking about unwanted hair.
What we treat.
Laser hair removal can be performed on many areas of the face and body including:
Underarms
Bikini & Brazilian
Legs
Arms
Back & Chest
Abdomen
Face & Neck
Chin & Upper Lip
How It Works.
Advanced Safety & Precision Features
Clarity II delivers laser energy that is absorbed by melanin within the hair.
That energy is converted into heat, targeting the hair follicle while treatment parameters are selected to protect the surrounding skin. The goal is to damage the follicle sufficiently to reduce its ability to produce future hair.
Clarity II gives us access to two wavelengths:
755 nm Alexandrite is strongly absorbed by melanin and can be used for appropriately selected skin and hair types.
1064 nm Nd:YAG penetrates more deeply and has lower melanin absorption, providing another treatment option when treating darker skin types.
Clarity II also incorporates real-time skin-temperature sensing and IntelliTrak technology to support consistent treatment delivery.
Why We Love It.
Versatile Treatment Options
Because shaving is a lifetime subscription nobody remembers signing up for.
Laser hair removal is one of those treatments where consistency pays off. Over a properly completed series, patients can experience a significant reduction in the amount, density and coarseness of unwanted hair.
We also love the versatility of Clarity II. Its dual-wavelength platform gives us greater flexibility when selecting treatment parameters for different patients and treatment areas.
And once you've experienced significantly less shaving? It's pretty difficult to miss the old routine.
Where It Fits?
Realistic Expectations & Long-Term Results
Laser hair removal is designed for long-term hair reduction, not guaranteed permanent removal of every hair.
It can significantly decrease the amount and coarseness of hair that returns, but hormonal changes, medications, age and other factors can influence future hair growth.
Because laser only effectively targets hair during certain stages of its growth cycle, treatments need to be performed as a series rather than clustered together.
Maintenance treatments may occasionally be needed after completing your initial series.
Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment.
Before treatment, the area is assessed and appropriate Clarity II settings are selected based on your skin, hair characteristics and treatment history.
During treatment, controlled pulses of laser energy are delivered across the treatment area to target the hair follicles.
To make the experience more comfortable, we use a Chiller throughout treatment, delivering continuous cool air to the skin to help manage heat and discomfort while the laser is being used.
You may still feel a quick snapping or warming sensation with each pulse, although sensitivity varies depending on the area being treated.
Immediately afterwards, temporary redness and swelling around the follicles are common and can be an expected response. Over the following days to weeks, treated hairs gradually release from the follicles and shed.
Your Laser Hair Removal Consultation.
All new laser hair removal patients begin with a consultation. We'll assess your skin and hair, review your medical history and medications, discuss previous hair-removal methods and make sure laser treatment is appropriate for you.
A test spot may be performed when indicated so we can assess your skin's response before beginning treatment. We'll also review exactly how to prepare; including when to shave, what hair-removal methods to avoid and how to manage sun exposure before your appointment.

The Things You Actually Want To Know.
Below are a few common details about our laser hair removal treatment. Have a specific question? Reach out to us anytime and we'll be happy to help.
Does It Hurt?
There's some sensation. Most patients describe treatment as a quick snap or burst of heat followed by cooling.
Certain areas are more sensitive than others, but treatments are generally brief and comfort can be discussed during your consultation.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
You'll need a series.
Laser energy is most effective against hairs in the active growth phase, and not every follicle is in that phase at the same time.
The number of treatments varies according to the area, hair characteristics, hormonal influences and individual response. We'll recommend a schedule based on the area you're treating rather than promising an arbitrary number of sessions.
How often are treatments performed?
Timing depends on the area being treated and its hair-growth cycle.
Facial areas may require shorter intervals than body areas. As your series progresses and regrowth slows, treatment intervals may also change.
We'll tell you when to come back.
Do I have to shave first?
Yes. We want the hair follicle present beneath the skin, but we don't need long hair sitting above it.
You'll receive shaving instructions before treatment.
Avoid waxing, threading, tweezing or epilating during your treatment series because these methods remove the hair from the follicle; the target we're trying to treat.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is more accurately described as long-term hair reduction.
Some follicles may eventually produce hair again, and new growth can develop because of hormonal or other biological changes. Occasional maintenance treatments may therefore be needed.
