Q

Fine Lines & Wrinkles.

Not All Lines Are Created Equal

Fine lines and wrinkles are a normal part of skin aging — but they don't all develop for the same reason.

Some appear because the muscles underneath the skin move repeatedly. Others develop as collagen and elastin change, skin becomes thinner or drier, or the deeper structures of the face lose support.

Usually, it's a combination.

Which is exactly why we don't have one “wrinkle treatment.”

WHAT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING?

The Memory of Your Expressions

When we're younger, skin has more of the structural support that allows it to stretch, fold and bounce back.

Over time, changes in collagen, elastin, hydration and skin thickness mean it doesn't recover from that movement quite as easily. Cumulative UV exposure can accelerate these changes by damaging collagen and elastin within the skin.

At the same time, repeated facial expressions continue folding the skin in the same places.

Eventually, the line that used to disappear when your face relaxed may decide to stick around.

DYNAMIC VS. STATIC LINES.

Decoding the Depth of Your Lines

DYNAMIC LINES
Smile. Frown. Squint. Raise your eyebrows.

The lines you see while your facial muscles are moving are called dynamic lines. Common examples include forehead lines, frown lines between the brows and crow's feet around the eyes.

These are primarily driven by repeated muscle movement.

STATIC LINES
When those lines remain visible even when your face is relaxed, they've become static.

At this point, we're no longer dealing with movement alone. Changes in collagen, elastin, skin quality and sometimes underlying facial support may all be contributing.

That distinction matters.

Because relaxing a muscle and rebuilding the quality of the skin are two very different jobs.

HOW WE APPROACH FINE LINES + WRINKLES.

First, we figure out what's creating the line. Then we can choose treatments that actually address the problem

NEUROMODULATORS

For wrinkles driven primarily by repetitive muscle movement, neuromodulators may be used to temporarily reduce the activity of selected muscles.

The goal isn't to stop you from expressing yourself.

It's to soften the movement contributing to the line while maintaining a result that still looks like you.

TIXEL

Tixel uses controlled thermal energy at the skin's surface to stimulate renewal and improve fine lines, texture and overall skin quality.

Its specialized eye treatment capabilities also make it particularly useful when delicate skin around the eyes is part of the concern.

eCO2 LASER RESURFACING

For more established lines and textural changes, fractional CO2 resurfacing may be considered.

By creating controlled treatment zones within the skin, eCO2 stimulates a healing and remodelling response that can improve wrinkles, texture and overall skin quality.

LASEMD ULTRA

LaseMD Ultra is a non-ablative fractional thulium laser that supports skin renewal while improving pigmentation, texture and overall skin quality.

It may be incorporated when fine lines exist alongside sun damage or uneven tone.

GENIUS RF MICRONEEDLING

Genius delivers radiofrequency energy beneath the skin through microneedles, stimulating collagen remodelling at controlled depths.

It may be incorporated when fine lines are accompanied by changes in texture, firmness or skin laxity.

XERF

Sometimes what looks like a wrinkle problem is partly a firmness problem.

XERF uses radiofrequency energy to heat tissue at different depths, supporting collagen remodelling and improving firmness. It may be incorporated when laxity is contributing to the appearance of lines or changing facial contours.

Skin Boosters

Some fine lines look more noticeable when skin is dehydrated or lacking in smoothness.

Skin boosters is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment designed to improve skin hydration and smoothness rather than create traditional facial volume.

BIOSTIMULATORS

When declining collagen and tissue quality are part of the picture, treatments may be considered to stimulate collagen and support gradual improvement in skin quality and structure.

DERMAL FILLER

Some deeper folds are influenced by changes in facial volume and support rather than the skin alone.

When appropriate, dermal filler can be used strategically to restore selected areas of volume or structural support.
We don't fill a line simply because it's there.

PRP + PRF

PRP and PRF may be incorporated into a broader regenerative treatment plan when improving skin quality is part of the goal, including delicate areas such as around the eyes.

MEDICAL-GRADE SKINCARE

Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen and targeted ingredients like retinoids, antioxidants and hydrators help maintain skin quality.

Skincare can’t replace in-clinic treatments, but it helps support and maintain your results.

WHERE WE TEND TO NOTICE THEM.

Anatomy of Expression

Fine lines and wrinkles can develop almost anywhere, but commonly appear around the:

Forehead + brows
Horizontal forehead lines and the vertical “11s” between the brows are strongly influenced by facial movement.

Eyes
Crow's feet develop with smiling and squinting, while the naturally thin skin around the eyes can also develop fine, crepey lines as skin quality changes.

Mouth
Vertical lip lines can develop from a combination of repetitive movement and changes in the skin surrounding the mouth.

Cheeks + lower face
Not every crease through the lower face is simply a wrinkle. Nasolabial folds and marionette lines, for example, can also be influenced by changes in facial volume and structural support.

Neck
Thin skin, movement, sun exposure and changes in collagen can all contribute to lines and crepiness through the neck.
